To Oversleep..

Sleeping... one of the most essential need for human beings to continue their daily activities well. So we need to have a good and adequte sleeping and when don't get enough sleep, we are nervous, forget things and our attention is distracted easily. But something we start to sleep so much. It is a problem again. Oversleeping creates problems as sleeping few does. For example, nervousness, anger, not being glad to live etc. One of the most important reason of oversleeping is depression. ''what is the normality of sleeping'' this question is asked all the time and the answer is 6-8 hours is enough. But it is related to period of sleeping. the duration of sleeping increase when it is interrupted so we have to sleep more for an efficient sleeping. But sleeping in a comfortable, normal heated and moistured place will be adequate and efficent even if it is short. therefore the conditions must be considered clearly. In addition, some daily defaults can create sleeping disorders. for example you argued with your wife/husband, you had a bad exam, you lost much money etc.. But these sleeping orders are temporary. After the reasons disappear, sleeping disorders with that matter disappear too. sometimes we can sleep so much and after sleeping for hours and waking up still exhausted we must look over the conditions of our bedroom, how it is heated, is our bed good etc. and that we wake up often at nightscan be a reason of our oversleeping and after controlling conditions and seeing that there is not a extra-ordinary conditions to oversleep we must go to doctor and search it scientifically....

Servet Çetin

As all of you know Servet Cetin (27) is a proffesional footballer who is playing Galatasaray Football Team now. I want to tell about his career. He started to play as a proffesional in 1999. When he was in fenerbahce, fenerbahce got the League Championship in 2004 and 2005. After joining Galatasaray he was criticized for making critical mistakes on the pitch. It is said that he was good at winning header but not in ones-on-ones, especially against quick players. But after settling in Galatasary he improved and became favorite of Galatasaray fans (me too:)) what he made him favorite is that he gives what he has on the pitch and we, supporters, call him ''Ayıboğan'' for his height and strength. He is also known for his desire for playing although he has injuries. And nowadays he is playing with a black mask because of a cheekbone injury. he has been dating with a German model for 4 years.

catching the right angle!

In the photograhy art, there are so many things that must be known and fulfilled. one of them is perspective. With the help of perspective and angles, so nice photos and scenes can appear. In these photos you see things as if they are some things different. And why am I writing about this topic? Because last week when I opened my facebook account there was an update about one of my friends. It was said that he added some photos and I became curious about them and opened his profile to look at photos. they attracted my attention because they are fairly good. I admire those who took that photos and I want to show you some of them. I think you will like them...

P.S I love you...

P.S I LOVE YOU…
I can say that it is one of the most emotional novel I have ever read. Its author is Cecelia Ahern. She was born in 1981 in Ireland and she has been an author since 2004 and P.S I Love You is her first novel. It became a bestseller for 19 weeks in Ireland and some other countries. It is about a life of a woman who lose her husband from an ilness and her husband’s letters for an each mounth after his death. Holly, the main character, loves his husband so much and Gerry, her husband loves her too. Nobody knows Holly better than Gerry and when Gerry know he will die, He wrote 10 letters to Holly and these letters will guide her. Because he knows Holly will be in a great grief after his death and she must know life goes on. This letters includes some tasks that Holly has to do. For example one of them says to Holly that she must find a job and learn how to make money. But her best friend and mother start to worry about Holly ‘cos they think she will stick to past and will be upset but Gerry’s letters take her to the future and teach her how to live without him and to stand on her own feet.

SOME OF THE CHARACTERS IN BOOK

Holly Kennedy- the main character
Gerry Clarke- Holly’s late husband
Sharon McCarthy- Holly’s best friend
Denise Connoly- Holly’s friend
Elizabeth Kennedy- Holly’s mother
Frank Kennedy- Holly’s father

In this book I like most Gerry’s letters to his wife. ‘cos they teach something readers about life. One of them says to Holly ‘’ Honey you will go to a karaoke pub and sing a song’’ but her voice is so bad and she doesn’t have an ear for music. Here he wants her to gain self-confidence and discover the potential talent in her.

I think about the parts that aren’t clear for me but the book is an easy book to read and doesn’t have complicated parts maybe while reading, you mix the characters. Well I think the book was written for teenagers and the author tries to give some advices about standing on your own feet. The language the author uses is very easy to understand and it has an smooth style and doesn’t have so much vocabulary. The organization of book is from past to future and it makes the understanding simple. In addition, this book has an important place in me because it is the first book my beloved gave me....

My sweetie cousin:)

As I have so many aunts and uncles, I have many cousins from every ages and so I know every type of child in any age. Well especially there is one of them I love most. His name is Cahfer and he is the son of my aunt. he is 24 years old. he has been living in Batman for 12 years and he has changed so many school so far. not because of his laziness, naugthiness or something else, but because of his unluckiness. he has had some problems about his family and he had to quit school and then had to start again but because of his age. he is a litle bit old for high school. but he was accepted for a high school in batman. the name of the school is ''Commercial Vocational High School'' he completed it and then entered to uni entrance exam but unfotunately he couldn't pass it. this year he started to learn english and he has planned to go Bulgaria. So sometimes while online chatting, we try to speak in english but he has difficulty in speaking and I help him. well when it comes to his personality, he is so strange because sometimes he can be so comic but sometimes can be so uncompanionable and sometimes he can be so snappish that I can kill him. While we were children, we argued so much and now we are laughing what we did as a child. and now while I am writing this article, I am at his house and he is sitting near me and reading what I am writing and trying to understand what I am writing. And thank God he can't understand clearly and exactly how I am thinking about him because he will be spoiled and I can't bear it!!!! He is like my elder brother. In addition my brother and he have been very close friends since their childhood and they share everthing with each other but not with me and I, like a curious child, try to learn what they are doing but they don't let me know. They have seen me as a child all the time and even now they are seeing me like this. despite this situation, Thank God I have them and this family I love them so much. so while I am away, they miss me and I miss them but what can I do? everything is for my future and they are happy and proud of me:)

A brigde in metu :)

Last sunday I was in a good organization. It was so nice that I want to tell you too. There is an association in our university whose name is METU İSTANBUL GRADUATES ASSOCIATION (ODTÜ MEZUNLAR DERNEĞİ).In this associaton there is a part whose name is bridge group. This group makes some assistances for the poor schools and children and make students continue their school in better conditions and make them see some new places. You may think how could I participate in this group. Thanks to Şerafettin I am in this group because he is in too and he is bursar of this association. 2 weeks ago he said to me I wanted to go Eskişehir to see my friends but I had to participate the organization of the brigde group but times of them overlapped and he wouldn't participate. And he asked me if I could go instead of him and I accepted ( I could not refuse him:)) but fortunately I accepted because it was such a effective thing that I decided to be a member of group. The last sunday our group's captain went to Yenice village and took the students of 8 grade to here and we were together with them all the day.we helped them to wander around and make them learn something about metu and we ate together and after eating lunch we gave them a problem which is made up from two nails and they were telescopic and we wanted the students to solve them from each other of course firstly they had difficulty to solve it but after a few attempts some of them managed to solve. but some of them couldn't. And we ,their sisters and brothers, show them how to solve. after learning ,they were surprised and they were happy to learn something new. and then we brought them to their villages and after coming our dorms I was too tired but I was so happy because I did something beneficial for them and now I am a member of that group! Thank you şerafettin :):)

The Feast of The Sacrifice...

Every year we, Muslims, celebrate a feast which dates back to the period of Abraham prophet. Muslims believe that Abraham prophet had a son whose name was İsmail and Abraham had to sacrifice his son to God. While he was doing the sacrifice process, his son, to be killed ''sacrifice'' turn into an animal and from that day Muslims have had sacrifice feast and have been making sacrifices to the God. And after killing the animal they hand out the meats of the animal to those who are in need of meat according to Islamic rules. I think it is a good thing because we learn to share our belongings with the others. and it strengthens our relationships with one another. but in our country while killing the animals for sacrifices, people are so crucial to animals and make them run away because anımals are afraid of being killed and they run away. so very interesting scenes appear every year. we see them in the news and sometimes some of them can be comic. because people in our country don't know how to behave against the animal while the animal run away. I think people who will have an animal to kill it must be knowledgable to fulfill the ''task'' properly and with the least hurt which will be suffer by animal...

ISSIZ ADAM :)

Last thursday, we, me, mert, şerafettin, nihan ,elif, hande (demirel), mesude, sümeyye and betül, decided to go to cinema in cepa- a mall opposite of METU- but we had to come back by 15.40 because we had trkish lesson and had to participate in it unless we would have non-attendance and would fail from non-attendance for serafettin it was too important 'cos it was his last chance to attend the class and for me and mert it was important 'cos we will go to our hometowns at coing thursday and wont ba able to attned the class so it will be a right not to attend the class. So we had to attend the class. Well we went to cepa by Mert's car and all of us ,9 person!!! Serafettin was in the boot of the car:) and betul and hande were on my,nihan's and elif's legs, mesude and sumeyye, Mert was driving the car. after ariiving (thank god for not having an accident) we had to decide the film which we would go. Firstly we said ''Osmanlı Cumhuriyeti'' but Mert said '' I watched all the films on view except ''Issız Adam'' and also I wanted to watch Issız Adam because it is said it is a good and moving film which I needed to. In the end we bought the tickets for 9 person thanks to ''gnctrkcll'' then we ate something before film 'cos we were hungry. after eating, we went to a market to get something to drink in the film then time of the film came and we had to run it was the first running of the day. We entered in the cinema palace and seated our seats. then film started it was good for me and soundtrack is also good and I cried in the end of film and I threw myself out and then sümeyye came and I hugged her and continued to cry then Serafettin came and said '' Time of crying is not now! after you fail the course of turkish you can cry!!!!'' and then I started to laugh and Mert said ''Hurry up!'' and then we started to run again to catch the class and again we seated in the car as we came and went to school. And while hurriyn up for cathcing the lesson we were thinking about a lie to say the instructor but we couldn't find anything to say. And I said '' we will say only ''sorry'' to hşm and seat uor places ok?'' they said ''ok'' and we interrupted the lesson and sat and the instructor continued to his lesson and I was breathless because that emotion intensity mixed me. Blues, homuor, fair and hurrying up were too much to catch in a day! But film was good, friends were soo good and so the day was so so enjoyable and good!! I thank all of my friends that made me be happy that day :) :)

the most elastic creature in sea...

the octopuses.... when this word is said, you think it is and eight armed animal but it has some interesting features...they are the most elastic creature living in the sea. they are so elastic that they can get through a hole of two cms because they have no bone or spine in their body. so they can pucker in so small sizes. But unfortunately these animals' lifespans are so short. The reason of this situation is that they don't take nourishment for a long time after they mate. Male octopuses die in a short time, but females die after they spawn. This feaure enables them tohave some abilities. one of them is to learn quickly. because of having short life expectancy, parents can't teach their baby octopuses to do things so babies have to learn some behaviours on their own. According to their body size, they are strong animals and can do some interesting things. the stories of octopuses getting out of aquarium to go to bathtub or getting into fishers' vessels to eat something are widespread. And also it is proved that they have both long-term memory and short-term memory. In additon, one type of octopuses has an interesting feature. It can imitate shapes of so many animals easily!!! it is so that they can exactly copy the movements of animals which they imitate. It can copy lion fish, eel, tongue fish ... and so on. As you can understand for doing tihs imitaion it is necessary to have intelligence and so they are intelligent animals!

work and travel!!

what is ''work and travel''? It is an cultural exchange program which is under the control of USA government and which enables students around the world to come to USA for improving their english by working and also enables them to learn about different cultures and societies. With the help of this program you can live in USA not like a tourist but like a person from USA and also with a little money you can come back your country. It is the dictionary meaning of ''work and travel''. I think it is a beneficial program because you work there and you can see what is happening in daily life, how it is diificult to make money and also you can learn daily language, slang, some informal usages of english not only we were taught in our schools! ( for example; this is a book:)) By the way, you go there for improving your english but at the same time you learn some tricks, experiences about working life and when you come back your country, you have some stuffs about business world when necessary to talk about. In addition, you learn not only about American culture but also different cultures because in this program there student from all around the world and you will met them and learn something about their cultures or countries and you can have the opportunity to introduce your culture to these students. I think you can also feel the excellence of being on your own feet and live on yourself. So after thinking so many good features about this program why are we waiting? I hope I will attend it!! ( but of course if my mum let me goo...)

I am so glad to be his :)

From looking at title you can think what it is? but it has a story. Well, I was going to write about another topic but I asked our instructor, Mr. Sakayoglu, '' what can I write to blog this week'' and he said '' you can write about Vandalism'' I know what Vandalism means but I need to research about it and in the middle of night I was so tired and couldn't find the strength to do that job and I asked again instructor ''I can't write about it now is there anything else I can write about?'' he said '' you can write a writing which starts with '' I am so glad to be his'' ( By the way, on my msn nick it is written that I'm so glad to be his:)) he gave me an idea about what to write. So I decided to write about my love:) and didn't want to break my instructor!

Well I don't know where and how I can start. Maybe it would be to start from beginning. I don't wanna bother you by telling every detail about our relationship 'cos it is too complicated. But I can say that it started with his seeing me -as he always says ''love at first sight''- he loves me for two years. We first met in our language course. The days when we were together were so nice. He always made me laugh. He is an interesting person. Sometimes he can be so humorous sometimes can be so emotional like a child ( but never romantic :p) I am learning anything different about him day by day. Like us, he is studying foreign languages department but in Akdeniz University and so he is in Antalya now:( Missing sometimes is too difficult to put up with but there is nothing to do. Because it is our choice to go these unis and we knew we would separate one day. Anyway despite these distances, to be his beloved is so excellent. Because I can say he could do everything for me and in summer, one day he called me and said '' honey I have a surprise for you!'' I said '' what is it?'' he said '' on my right arm your name is written!!!'' I was shocked because he tattooed my name which is permanent. So I know how much he loves me and I love him too. Thank god, he is mine and I am his...........

my first love:)

Leonardo Di Caprio is my first love. I saw him first like many girls in the film '' Titanic'' and it was love at first sight. Maybe you can think how ridicolous it is but it was a real love because when I was 15 I thought only about him and all the time I was collecting his pictures, his poster and I was following magazines to get news about him. He is so cute and handsome for me.I think there were nearly a hunderd photos and posters of him in my files. I was so much in love that I put his photos in files and arrange them all the time. One day I hung his all poster on the wall near my bed and my mum came and looked at them surprisedly and only said '' you have to put them down!'' I was shocked because I hanged them in such a happy mood that I was depressed but I put them down and put in files again. In my class my friends knew how I loved him and they gave me some pictures of him or news about him which they cut from newspapers or magazines. I was trying to watch his all films. Even I wrote my names as '' Helin Di Caprio'' and also my msn account is ''fan of LEO'' But after I fell in love in a boy around me really, my love of Leonardo started to reduce but when I see something about him, I still get excited and wanna know what it is. Even when I was writing this writing and looked at his pictures, I felt something inside me like seeing an old friend of mine. Because it is said that first loves are never forgotten!!!

ADOLESCENCE...

Adolescence… one of the hardest problems of these days. Well it is not a psychological problem but it is a period of transition. It is so important for teenagers. Because in this period they start to grow, they have some changes in their body, their physical apperance becomes important for them and also they start to rebel against their family and the rules that they have to obey. They may be affected so deeply so in this period their parents must be more considerate against them.In addition, they wanna make their own choices about their future. Well you can think it is their right to give them the chance to choose their future but you mustn’t forget that they are not adults but not children, too. You can give them freedom but not completely, you should balance it. not too strict and not very relaxed. because they are in a period and can’t decide properly. For example they can decide a vocation and they can regret it after years pass. So you must take the control. In my family adolescence was not a big problem for me because for my mum I was not a” problematic child”. And she was always considerate to me and for my emotional development and for my school and lessons she could do everything. Because I was already a wounded child and she tried to everything for me and my brother. So it was not difficult for me to pass that period. To develop a positive relationship in this period of child, parents and children must respectful to each other. They can create a positive environment by doing this. For example; if a teenager wanna do something, he/ she must share it with his/her parents. Because it can be dangerous for him/her. It is a sign of respect. And also a parent can say reasons why she/ or he bans something and must try to explain the reasons that she/ he gives.Of course, there is a generation gap between me and ny mum. because she is 44 and I am 18. Sometimes we can’t agree on some issues. For example my pants! well you may not believe but it is true while I and my mum go to the shop, we nearly argue ‘cos she doesn’t want me to wear low-waisted pants and I like wearing them!!!!! apart from this we can!t agree on something generally unimportant! And to brigde this gap I sometimes do what she wants. Especially I do this not to argue with her because she is all my life and I don’t wanna upset her.Well like every child the gap affects me. but it affects me sometimes in a bad way. The gap between me and my mum originates from her being a little big old while comparing with me. Because she has lived in different ideas in her mind so far and my ideas are different from hers. And so we can’t agree. So sometimes I think it can be painful to me accept her ideas and it can be bad….

The first African American president!

Nowadays, he is the most spoken man around the world. Barrack Obama, the first negro president of America, is eventually the president after a looong election campaign. His being an candidate was very polemical 'cos this was the first time one negro was an candidate for presidency. Well, because nearly all of you know what's happening about him politically, I wanna talk about his other side.

Who is he? Obama was born on August 4th 1961 in Hawaii. He was raised by his mum and grandparents. Because his parents met when they were students. But his father eventually returned to his hometown and so Obama grew up with his mum in Hawaii and for a few years in Indonesia. His family didn't have much money but they taught him values from the Kansas where they grew up. He took out loans to put him through to school. As an adult, he admitted that he used marijuana, cocain, alcohol which he described as his greatest moral failure. he is a graduate of Colombia University and Harvard Law School where he was the first African American to serve as president of the Hard Law Rewiew. He also taught constitutional law at the university of Chicago Law School. he met his wife, Michelle Robinson, in 1989 and she firstly didn't accept his offer of dating but then they got married in 1992. The copule's first baby, Malia Ann, was born in 1998 and the second one , Natasha (Sasha), was born in 2001. So far he has done so many good things and worked so much to do this. But above all his accomplishments and experiences , he is most proud and grateful for his family.. His wife, Michelle, and his two daughters, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, live on Chicago's South Side.

smiles in life... (photo description-2)

The environment is as bad as the environment you can think. There is a barrack which is about to fall down and in it there are negro children. you can guess where it is. Maybe an undeveloped country, an area after a naturel disaster or a battle field... Everything is broken and dispersed around. The barrack the children are in is made up of some broken woods and is as big as including just five or six children. We can only see childrens' smiling faces. In the children's eyes you can see the hope, curiosity amd maybe happiness as if they are in a funfair but unfortunately they are not. Although they are in a terrible situation and there are awful things around them, they can smile. You can see how hard they live but they are smiling. They are smiling 'cos they have their photos taken. Children must be something like that. only having a photo taken can make them happy. And I think this is the one of most moving things in life '' a innocent child's smile''.........

how sweetie:) ( photo description-1)

Just think... One of the most lovely animals of the world and the most innocent creature of the world... a dolphine and a small child.. They are in blue water. The child is wearing a black short and a scuba mask. The dolphine is a little bit huge while comparing with the child. The child tries to hug the dolphine with his little arms and kisses the dolphine from the lips. The dolphine is pleased 'cos a human being loves it and the child is happy 'cos he thinks dolphine is his friend and not afraid of him... And there must be a strong friendship between them and also we can know they love each other...

doing listening homework with friends...

If you are in my section in listening and pronunciation course, you know our assignment about praat. But for the ones who don't know I wanna tell a litte bit. Well our instructor and her asisstant give us some words and sentences and want us to record these words and sentences with an headset, and upload them to moodle (a program created for our course). I think you got the point. For doing our first assignment, I and Neslihan gathered in my dorm room and tried to do some recordings but we could do only words but not sentences 'cos we laughed so much and got very tired so we postponed it to another night. After one night we decided to do recordings in Neslihan's room and with Sevda! And firstly we tried to START to record for a while 'cos Sevda is a very comic girl and made us laugh all the time. Well we managed to start but our recordings were very strange and the original recordings' diagrams were different from ours and we were getting furious slowly. At the end we were able to record some recording but they weren't done carefully 'cos we were tired from laughing again ang got bored of saying the same thing again and again. After my recording , Sevda said ''I will do a recording then finish!!'' I said 'ok' and she took the headset and said ''ZIKKIIIIIMMMMM'' it was so funny. I laughed so much that I nearly suffocated 'cos I couldn't breathe properly. Sevda was fairly bored and tried to relax but Neslihan was swearing at computer and I could do nothing but only watch them. I said to myself ''was it a good idea to do homework with friends?'' but now I can say it was an unforgettable night for me 'cos I had never laughed so much in my whole life:):) thank you Sevda and Neslihan I love you two....

AHMET ARİF

As you know I introduced you my hometown, Diyarbakır, last week. And I thought I should a poet from Diyarbakır. His name is Ahmet Arif. Maybe you know him maybe not. Well firstly I can say about him that he is from diyarbakır and was born in 1927 and died in 1991. After graduating from Diyarbakır high school, he started to study in Ankara university. Although he is Kurdish he wrote all of his poems in Turkish and he emphasizes people's brotherhood (especially people living in Anatolia) in his poems. his poems were translated into Kurdish too and his only poem book is 'Hasretinden Prangalar Eskittim' and it was published in 1968 firstly and it is one of the most printed book in Turkey. Some famous poets such as Yılmaz Erdoğan quoted from his poets. Despite his strict face expression, he has very emotional poems. Some of his poems are lyrics of some songs such as 'Hasretinden Prangalar Eskittim' from Ahmet Kaya or 'Adiloş Bebe' from Cem Karaca. I first read one of his poems through my boyfriend he loves his poems too and he knows all of his poems!!! Wel I like his poems but do not know all of them and I wanna show you some of his poems.

TERK ETMEDİ SEVDAN BENİ
Terketmedi sevdan beni
Aç kaldım, susuz kaldım
Hayın karanlıktı gece.
Can garip, can suskun
can paramparça.
Ve ellerim; kelepçede.
Tütünsüz, uykusuz kaldım
Terketmedi sevdan beni.

DİYARBAKIR KALESİNDEN NOTLAR VE ADİLOŞ BEBE
Seni, baharmışın gibi düşünüyorum,
Seni, Diyarbekir gibi,
Nelere, nelere baskın gelmez ki
Seni düşünmenin tadı...

P.S this poem is too long to write so I take only one stanza of it....

making donation can be both dangerous and funny:)

I wanna talk about my first blood donation to red crescent. That night I went to a theatre course in our uni. That was very nice and I laughed so much. After that I came to dormitory and saw that there was nurses and a doctor in the corridor. I was with Sema, my friend from dormitory, and the nurse asked us to donate our blood for people in need. Well 'cos Sema is a thin girl she didn't wanna give her blood. But nurse turned to me n' looked over me than said ''you could make a donation'' with a smiling face. I thought it can be 'cos I have type of blood that is found rarely and I thought maybe I would rescue a life with my donation. After thinking about my weight for a while :) I decided to give my blood. I filled a form about my health and a nurse took a little blood from my finger and tested it and brought it to doctor and doctor said you were at the limit but you could give than took my blood pressure than I said I have generally low blood pressure he said that doesn't matter. I laid down on the litter than nurse came and inserted the syringe into my arm and my process started. It was going well and after the process ended they said to me stand up slowly and go and drink a soda water and eat a biscuit. while drinking the beverage, I started to be dizzy and there was a girl sitting near me she said '' are you ok?'' I said ''Noo'' then I held her arm and I don't remember after that 'cos I fainted. when I opened my eyes I was on the ground and there were people around and tried to help me to become to myself they were saying ''Helin can you hear us '' but I was feared and didn't know what was happening there and suddenly I noticed there were carrying me to the litter I was very confused... Doctor came and started to explain why I fainted than in every 10 minutes came to me and ask me ''how are you, are you ok?'' but I was very fine 'cos hande was near me and she made me laugh with a high voice she is very fun and she started to say ''I wanna make a blood donation'' doctor said ''you are too weak to give blood '' she said ''heey I am 5o kilos'' doctor said '' If a girl like Helin fainted, you could never bear with it'' than we started to laugh loudly. It was really a different day for me. firstly I had fun than I fainted than I had fun again... Thank you Hande for your help:):)

p.s: my blood donation proved useful and I rescued one person's life that made me forget what I had while giving that blood...

my homeland! :)

my home sweet home:) it is understood that I miss my home, isn't it? I wanna introduce you my hometown, Diyarbakır. it has a very long history. it had been home of 26 different civilizations and it had also different names such as Amid, Amed, O'mid etc. In the domination of Arabian civilization its name was 'diyarbekr' but it had changes but in the end in an telegraph of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk it was changed as Diyarbakır. It was an important city of trade in nearly every historical period. so there were so many wars to get it. It was included in Ottoman domination in 1515 by Yavuz Sultan Selim. These reasons make the city very historical place and it has so many antique places such as mosques, churches, museums etc... for example Ulu Camii or Great Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in our country. And there is an important thing that mustn't be forgotten. It has also city wall which dates back the domination of Akkoyunlular. 'cos during centuries turkish, kurdish, armenian, assyrian, jewish and arabian people had lived together the city has a very rich cuisine and you can understand it by looking at me:):P And it also has various crafts such as jewellery, copperworking, the silk industry etc. Its people are very hospitable and friendly. they like helping people who need. Well after so many things I can say I love my hometown but unfortunately it is shown different in media and people from other cities look at Diyarbakır in a different way and it upsets me a lot :(:( you must come and see my hometown I will be very happy to lead you :)

MAXIIIIMMM....

This week I wanna talk about a pianist Maxim Mrvica. When I first saw him in his video clip, I didn't even move I was nearly in love of his music and his talent if playing so well. He was born in Croatia. He was nine when he first did his public performance. 3 years later he did his first concert performance.. In 1990 the war started but he didn't let it handicap his career. He has so many achievements in his career. and I love his music so much that I can listen to him for so long times.'cos it refreshes me, soothes me and also he is sooooooooo much handsome and charismatic:):) ahh, I love him.....

I love her:)

hi all,
I wanna talk about one of my favorite authors. Her name is Elif Şafak. She was born in Strazburg in 1971. She is a well educated author and her first story book is ''Kem Gözlere Anadolu'' and her first novel is ''Pinhan'' written in 1997 and was awarded with 1998 Major Mevlana Award. Then she wrote her second book ''Şehrin Aynaları'' in 1999. She was known with ''Mahrem'' which was awarded by Union of Authors of Turkey then ''Bit Palas'' and ''Araf'' came and the latter one was written in english .But her breakthrough is ''Baba ve Piç''. This book is about turkish-armenian relationships and she was sued for violation of laws but then it is understood that she didn't do anything like this. Her last book is ''Siyah süt''and it is about a little bit difficulties of being mum, the other personalities in us, some superstitions etc. Well, I read ''Mahrem'' ''Bit Palas'' ''Araf'' ''Baba ve Piç'' and ''Siyah Süt''. What most I like in her writing style is that she firstly writes about different events, characters, places etc. and then associates them and it baffles readers and of course I like her smooth style which let me read her book quickly and so I love her and I hope meeting her but where???? Well anything can happen anytime or anywhere so who knows maybe one day the fate will confront me and her....:)

Your Sincerely....

Hi all,

As all of you know I am Helin. I was born at a good spring night at a hospital with my mum's screams (sorry mum:( ) my birth date is 27.04.1990. I had a nice childhood until I lost my daddy in a road accident. And unfortunately I don't remember the funny days with my daddy before his death. And it is bitter. Well these are sad issues and I want to write about my school life. I graduated from Diyarbakır Anadolu Öğretmen Lisesi.I had a so good high school life. It was very entertaining I had really good friends and teachers. Even our last year, when we had to cope with uni exams, was like others. But now I am in METU and for the first time in my life I am away from my mum and brother. Most of the time I am thinking about my mum. Because my brother goes to school and she is alone at home and I think she is bored of being alone. She and me are friends and we used to share our experiences with each other but now can't do it. I really miss her and can't tell her ''mum I miss you'' 'cos I know she will be upset. But I am getting used to it as I had much more painful things previously and now ,thank God, I have no pain expect missing my mum, brother and my sweetheart :( he is away from me too. And despite everthing, it is nice to be here 'cos everyting here is different and new for me and I am happy to meet you, friends...

The Pregnant Man!

I know the title sounds different and astonishing but that's true. Our character's name is Thomas Beatie. He was a girl before he changed his sex even he or she was a so beautiful girl that she was chosen as Miss Hawaiian. Then she decided to change her sex but in his operation his reproductional organs weren't taken. After operation HE married and wanted to have a baby but his wife already has a two kids. He decided to bear his baby and got pregnant from another man. He said at one of his interviews that 'I am very happy like being on clouds and I am looking forward to seeing my baby's face'.And he bore his baby at a hospital in the city of Bent and it was a daughter and a healthy baby. Well when I first read this news I said 'how could it be true' 'how absurd it was' but after thinking for a while I started to realise I like it. Maybe for you that is not a lovely thing but at least for now I think it is. Because ,to be honest, one of my dreams is to have a baby. And after seeing Thomas' efforts to be a mum, I started to think women never change and being mum is always inside them even if they change their sex. And I also think that being woman is a gift for a human being although sometimes it may be very painful...
